Writer's Block: At the Hour of Preference

What time of day is best? Why?

Submitted by [info]adosthebitty

This is really an open-ended question. What time of day is best for what? Sex? I'd say whenever you're in the mood, obiviously! Best time to eat? When you're hungry but at least before midnight. Best time to wash your hair? For me, it's in the evening after 7 really. Even though I have what some Af-Am call 'wash and wear hair' I still have to go through a ritual to get it done. I have to oli it and groom it appropriately. It takes time. And half of that time is spent in the shower because of the conditioning I do to it so it's not some 15-20 minute thing like for some people. Best time to do homework for me is when the house is a little more settled-which is in the evening/closer to bedtime for the boys. It really depends....

Sunthin' bout me-Thanks Neth!!

I got this from one of my LJ gals-who I think is cool as hell-and figured I'd use it. I've been kinda drained and not really felt like blogging much, but this was too good to pass up. So you all read my answers, then you can do the same for your journal. Have fun.

From...er, several people.

You know how sometimes people on your friend's list post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute? Since when are they working THERE? Since when are they dating HIM/HER? since when???" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you *should* already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.

Please copy mine below, erase my answers putting yours in their place then post it in your journal! Please elaborate on the questions that would benefit from elaboration! One-Word-Answers seldom help anyone out :)

1. First Name: Quiana. Nickname at childhood: Kiki. Nickname now: Lil'Bit. It's obvious I'm called this because of my lack of height and size which is short and petite.

2. Age: 30. Just turned it. Went to San Juan for B-day (thanks Mom!) Loved it, wants to go back.

3. Location: Gary, IN. I usually put NW Indiana or some shit like that because some people bitch and moan about Gary because of it's rep. I say BULLSHIT because crime is everywhere! Been here since birth and nothing extremely bad has happened to me! Duh, it's how you live your life and who you hang out with that mostly causes you trouble. That's how I was taught and for the most part it's true cuz I'm still alive and kickin'!

4. Occupation: Student. I'm not dirt poor or rich. I get buy, that's all you need to know.

5. Partner?: I loved Neth's answer to this: Lesbian that likes a few boys. I guess that's what I am too. Reason I say this is I'm currently 'messing around' with this cute Mexican guy right now-I met him officially after I came back from San Juan but had been kinda eyeing him for a couple months. Too cute for words. And it's weird b/c I never thought I would be with a man again but can't wait to jump him!! But I still check out babes. Don't like the term Bi-it's a turnoff for me. Personal issue with it that I won't get into here. But I do like the term 'Lesbian that likes a few boys' so that's what I'll use. As far as marriage, if I'm not married in ten years I doubt I will because my kids will be grown/almost grown, I will have my freedom back and won't have to answer to/impress/do anything for anybody but meself....

6. Kids: Three rock-head boys. 12, almost 10 and 7. As I said, in ten years they will be grown or almost and I will be looking forward to my freedom if I don't have a spouse. Can travel and do whatevers I want when I want. I love my boys but I haven't been free since 18 and I'm looking forward to not being financial responsible for nobody but myself. All they do is grow and eat!! LOL!!

7. Brothers/Sisters: Only child by mom, several by my dad. Lost count of actual amount. Papa was a rollin' stone....

8. Pets: 2 cats. Midnight (the male/father cat), Whitefoot (we usually just call her the girl, pretty kitty or little lady) and her six kids she just dropped last Wednesday/Thursday. They are cute but they gotta go. It's gonna be hard, though.

9. List the 3-5 biggest things going on in your life:

I don't have anything really big going on right now. Just summer school and talking it one day at a time. Trying to graduate and get on with my life and make the best of it.

10) Where and for what did you go to school for?: I am currently a English Writing/Psychology major. Will go on to Master's and maybe PhD for Psychology. Plan to be a clinical therapist/psychologist for children and teens. The english is mostly because I do like to write in my spare time. Was going to pursue a career in it before I realized psych was my calling.

11) Parents?

My mother (not quite 50) was born and raised here also. She raised me too but it was mostly my g-parents (her parents). She was always working so my spoiled azz could go to a private school the first nine years of my academic career (K-8) and have most of the best 80's toys (the 80's were good to me!). My granny and I were partners in crime and we got along better. My mother was more strict with me while my granny let me get away with more shit. But I knew when she meant business though...My g-father was the 'daddy'. My mother and I are closer now since my granny past almost ten years ago. She's not as complicated as she used to be and the things she gets on my nerves about I just ignore her!

My father is over 50 with financial/emotional issues. I haven't been too close to him untill I became an adult and even then still not. He's kinda a mess and kinda feel sorry for him sometimes. I would counsel him but it would be against my profession's ethics. But if I could I would and charge him only half...

12) Who are some of your closest friends?:
Due to haterism, which is something most of the women in my family have been dealing/dealt with since childhood, I don't play well with others or they don't play well with me or whatevers, I only have one close friend who is not a LJ blogger. She is a mother/college student like myself and she's common law married but seeks women. So guess that's why we can tolerate each other. She's the same way as far as friends. Sometimes I just don't like people b/c they can be some shady mofos....

If you had the chance to go crazy and completely overhaul your appearance, what would you do?

Or:

Recount a remarkable incident involving insects.

Ummm....I don't like bugs so I'll take the makeover question for 500! Ummm really I'm not too unhappy with my appearance, so it wouldn't be much to do. I would probably get the acne marks off my face, maybe get my boobs enhanced a little and get some abs. But really, if I stop being lazy the abs thing I can do myself because it's not that bad. People don't even believe I have three boys and I'm tiny!

Writer's Block: Nicknames

  • May. 26th, 2008 at 6:56 PM

What's your nickname, and how did you get it?

I have two, actually! My oldest nickname is KiKi, which is a shortened version of  my real name and the most recently discovered and mostly used one is LilBit, because I'm so short and petite!

Crazy doll lady

  • May. 23rd, 2008 at 9:09 PM

For those of you that don't know, I will be in Puerto Rico this time next week, hopefully having the time of my life. Earlier today, I was over my best friend's house, doing something we don't normally get to do because of our schedule-hang out. Mainly, I had to get something from her, and I wanted to be sure I saw her before I left. So I was just going on about my trip; things I needed to do before I left and what I was taking with. I mentioned that I plan to take an AG (American Girl for you slow heads! Hehe...) with me. She was like 'Are you crazy?' I'm like, 'Of course, don't you know that by now?' But yes folks, I'm taking a doll with me. Mostly because I I like dolls, it's going to be my b-day and I can do whatever the fuck I want. So what I'm going to be 30 and women my age don't carry around dolls. I've come to realize I'm not like women my age anyway, and I'm damn proud of it. And anyways, I still get carded for liquor so I just might get away with it. And if I don't, again so what! I am who I am, I'll be who I'll be and I'll do what I do. My only problem is now though which one am I going to take......

Thinking of changing my screenname

  • May. 20th, 2008 at 11:36 AM

After taking hiatuses on LJ, I realize my screenname doesn't really fit me anymore. I mean, when I chose it, I was about three years younger. I'm still a rainbow girl-more than likely always will be, but winx-club doesn't even come on TV anymore! For those that are totally oblivious, Winx-Club was a cartoon about fairies, pixies and witches. Loved it. Anyway, since I'm constantly learning and evolving, I'm thinking I should change my name to something that fits me all around. I am very diverse anyway. I will probably do this very soon, but I would like to get you all's opinion first.

All about me-the extended version!

  • May. 19th, 2008 at 8:00 PM
Ok, so most of you have read my first journal about myself. Well, some things are the same, and some not. Well, I'm still a full time student pursuing a B.A. in English Professional Writing and Psychology. I added the psych major in fall of 06'. I was always interested in the study of the human mind, personalities and just what makes folks tick! But most of it is because family members have disorders and it's to help them as well. I will go on to Master's and very possibly PhD for Psychology-specializing in children and adolescent development and therapy. It starts with childhood and if that's not right, then it's possible that it will not be better as an adult. Call me the children's advocate. I have many other interest. Native American history and culture is one. I am part NA and since I was raised mostly Af-Am, part of that history and culture is lost for me. But even as a kid I was always interested in it, even before I knew I was mixed. I just it was just always in me. I have attended a few pow wows but they are kind of scarce around here where I reside. I am also interested in Latin Culture. I love Latin and Native American women, they are the most beautiful creatures on earth. Yeah, I love women-especially exotic women. They are just fuckin' hot!!! (wipes drool from mouth)....Anyway, I am also a doll/creature collector. I love Bratz dolls, American Girl dolls, Strawberry Shortcake, Rainbow Brite, YummiLand dolls and the like. I also have a big collection of Build a Bear. I have about 100 (counting my son's) and well over a 100 Bratz. I have close to 30 American Girl dolls, just about all the Strawberry Shortcake and Rainbow Brite dolls from the 80's (the rehashed dolls are fake to me-sorry!) I am currently in between religions right now-researching Buddisim and Wicca at the moment to find what's right for me. If you haven't figured it out by now, I am a rebel, outspoken, proud to be strange, proud to be myself. Self proclaimed brat. The opinion of others don't matter to me. I wear my rainbow bracelet with pride and my pentacle when I feel like it. I'm almost 30, those 'I'm afraid what others will say/think' days are over for me. But I'm a cool person, at least I think so.  If I forgot to add something bout myself, don't worry, you'll know about it in time.

I need a vacation!!

  • Apr. 13th, 2006 at 10:06 AM
Ok, I'm stressin'! So many things are hittin' me at once and I think I'm losing it. My kids are driving me nuts, I had to almost cuss out my English Lit professor last week, I will not be having a break from school this summer (signed up for Maymester and Summer sessions)I'm broke-but that's always! What am I to do? Most would say don't go to school in the summer, but yeah ok I'm trying to get outta here, and besides hanging out with the kids I'm going to be bored at home anyway! Might as well just take my ass to school. I want to visit a friend in Cali, but I don't know how my money's going to look in a few weeks. I don't know, maybe I can figure out something. Oh well. In the meantime, I hope this Red Bull kicks in soon!

It's just me!!!

Actually, I have been a member of Live Journal since the fall, but I never posted! Um....yea. Anyway, I'm a 27 year old college student that likes to write, and collect dolls. School is really wearing me down right now, I am so ready for my spring break. I reside in NW Indiana, like an hour away from Chicago. I attend Purdue Calumet. When I grow up, I would like to be a Journalist, Newscaster, or work with a newspaper. My dream is to become the Maya Angelou of the 21st Century. She was the one that inspired me to write, which I first started doing at the age of ten. I mostly started out writing short novels; poetry every once in a while, because I'm not very good at it. I have to be depressed to write and then it still sucks! Well, that's my opinion anyway! Now, when I have time, I write more elaborate stories, more on a full novel level. I also do a lot of personal journaling-more like a diary. I always loved to write, however, I also have a keen interest in psychology. I'm considering receiving my Master's in Psychology, as well as receiving my Master's in English Writing. I am currently a Junior in that program. I don't why I like psy-I want to know what happens to people when they experience life altering situations and their minds snaps/go crazy, whatever you want to call it. I want to know the difference between a bipolar/manic depressive person's brain as opposed to say a 'normal' person's brain. I don't know. It's almost more intriguing that my writing. Oh well, I'll keep you posted.

What I'm about

  • Aug. 31st, 2005 at 10:42 AM
This is me, a 27 year old college student with three boys. I like different things, I don't consider myself like most women my age, or background. I like dolls, yes, but I'm also heavily into Native American history, culture, literature. Really, I LOVE anything NA, as I am part Native American myself. I dream of one day learning the piano. I don't watch a lot of TV, but I do watch the Winx Club, some other Cartoon Network favorites with the boys, and I'm a BIG fan of The L Word! (draw your own conclusions!). People always mistake me for someone in their lower 20's or even late teens because I look young, but mentally, I feel close to fourty. I've been told all my life I was mature for my age. I think of myself as intelligent, but I can be fun and spontaneous as well. My favorite music talents are Alica Keys and Ciara. That's it for now, now if I can just figure out how to load pictures.....
